Delighting in Our Triune God: Grand Rapids (PCRT21)

The Trinity is the quintessential Christian doctrine, celebrating the biblical truth of one God in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  The first council of the ancient church at Nicaea in 325 A.D. defended the Trinity along with the deity of Jesus Christ. Ever since the church has realized that to think in a Christian way is to think in terms of the Trinity. B. B. Warfield wrote that the Trinity brings us “the solution of the deepest and most persistent difficulties in our conception of God as infinite moral Being, and illuminates, enriches, and elevates all our thoughts of God.”

Vital as the Trinity is to Christian faith and doctrine, we live in a time when increasingly few believers are well informed about it. Without the Trinity to structure our thoughts of God, we easily become imbalanced and impoverished, some believers thinking only in terms of the Father, others of the Son, and still others of the Holy Spirit. But the Reformed faith has placed the Trinity at the center of its doctrine, especially when it comes to God’s saving work. As the famous acrostic TULIP works out, the heart of the Bible’s solution to the problem of sin is the Father ordaining, the Son accomplishing, and the Spirit applying our salvation. Our goal in this year’s conference is to elevate the doctrine of God as Three-in-One, displaying some of His glory, and working through the vast implications of the biblical teaching of the Trinity.

We are thrilled to be joined by an outstanding group of scholar-preachers for this much anticipated conference, including Michael Barrett, Jonathan Landry Cruse, David Garner, Richard Phillips and Todd Rester. This is an exciting opportunity to learn from these highly qualified theologians and gifted preachers!
